When R2 D2, who had been waiting aboard Amidalas nearby yacht, interrupted the funeral with an urgent message for the Padawan, C 3. PO translated the astromechs binary beeps and whistles. After viewing the holocomm message, Skywalker and Amidala departed Tatooine for Geonosis to rescue Skywalkers Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi. C 3. PO during the Battle of Geonosis. Thus, C 3. PO would become both a witness and participant in the subsequent Battle of Geonosis the first spark of the Clone Wars, a conflict that would change the course of galactic history.
